Speaking Engagements | Michal Fedeles – Michal Fedeleš

SPEAKING + CONVERSATIONS

A good talk can offer useful ideas. A great one can change what we notice, what we question, and what becomes possible. I share the human challenges of learning, leading, working together, navigating complexity, and making a meaningful difference.

Michal Fedeles

Rather than simply delivering answers from a stage, I like to create encounters with ideas and questions that invite people to think, participate, and connect what we are exploring with their own experience.

Sometimes that means introducing a perspective people may not have considered. Sometimes it means challenging an assumption, creating space for reflection and conversation, or experimenting together with a different way of approaching something familiar.

My intention is that something continues after our time together: a question worth pursuing, a conversation worth continuing, or perhaps a different possibility worth trying.

What might we explore?

The most interesting conversations often cross boundaries between topics. These are some of the territories I get excited about exploring:

LEADING + RELATING

How might we engage, challenge, support one another in doing work that matters?

LEARNING + DEVELOPING

What makes development possible: in ourselves, other people, the systems around us?

COMPLEXITY + CHANGE

How might we see more of what is happening before deciding what to do about it?

MEANING + CONTRIBUTION

What becomes different because of how we choose to work, lead, contribute?

What might our time together look like?

The format depends on the people, purpose, context, and question. Let's design a session that makes the most sense for the occasion. Here are a few options:

A KEYNOTE

A concise, provocative talk designed to introduce fresh perspectives and leave the group with ideas and questions to continue pondering.

A WORKSHOP

A session in which the participants become part of the inquiry — reflecting, discussing, experimenting, connecting ideas to their experience.

A DEEPER DIVE

A facilitated dialogue or expanded exploration built around a question or challenge that matters to your organization or community.

Recent engagements

Each begins with a question or possibility rather than a predetermined set of answers.

Beyond “Fun” and “Content”: Making Learning Matter InterNetWorking Conference on Interculturality and Pedagogical Transformation · Plenary · 2026

We all have been there: Teaching a course on creativity that feels flat. A class on well-being that leaves students stressed. Sprinkling in humour to ‘keep it light,’ while what we really want is to take the exploration deeper.

This fast-paced session was an opportunity to:

  • Pause and reimagine the impact of our teaching on our students and the world they can create;
  • Explore how we move beyond talk-heavy teaching towards learning that is relational, applied, and meaning-making;
  • Surface what gets in our way (limited time, too much content, the comfort of control); and
  • Test a few simple practices that make space for students to think critically, act creatively, and connect ideas to the real world.

We explored:

  • What’s one question you’ve never asked your students — and probably should?
  • Where in your syllabus is there space for aliveness, wonder, and emergence?
  • What would your classes feel like if you designed them for connection first?

The idea was for the participants to leave with a renewed sense of purpose, a bundle of ready-to-try ideas, and a feeling that 7 minutes of co-creating really can spark something bigger.

This session was for educators who long for more than covering contents, however valuable: Keen on helping students think, create, and contribute in a complex world. And let’s take our collaboration in faculty development to the next level: built on care, curiosity, and advancing practice as partners.

What changes when we design learning not only around what learners should know or be able to do, but around the human experience we create together? A joint reflection on presence, caring relationships, and the conditions that help learners connect, grow, and contribute.

Perhaps exploring a question together might inspire the right kind of creative energy on your team. Tell me what is on your mind, and let's imagine what might be useful to play with in a session.
